  • I think something that is kinda underrated today is at least some kind of exposure to low-level computing and functional programming. Reason being, trading firms now have a great deal of interest in extremely low latency and some go as far as designing their own hardware to get the job done. By no means required to be a quant, but it would broaden your value if you had domain knowledge about the deeper engineering concepts at play at said trading firms. - Julius B., UC Berkeley
